Symbol Cards
A collection of 36 symbol cards from Traditional Tales.
These cards are available to purchase. Each card is created from an original painting.
Art Psychotherapists, psychologists and teachers have used them as storytelling tools in their work.
Around the world throughout history, traditional folktales including fairy tales have been told and re-told. Originally, they were passed on orally from person to person. As time went on they began to be recorded, written down to be preserved and shared. Many different variants of tales can be found in different countries and cultures.
Within the tales there are symbols and motifs that appear over and over again. These symbols have been given meaning by many different cultures over time and can have both positive and negative aspects.
Included in this pack are 36 symbols from traditional tales. Also in the pack is a list of some of the meanings that have been associated with the symbols as well as some of the tales in which they appear. The list is not exhaustive - there are many associated meanings and there may be several different versions of the tales from a variety of sources.
